Cosplay

Pop culture is one of my passions, and a recent pop culture phenomenon that is one of my favorites - comic conventions, also called “Comic Cons.” In the Comic Con world, adults dress up in costumes and are able to live in a fantas world for a few days. Comic conventions and “cosplay” is such a fun way to express your artistic side!

I love working on cosplay costumes!  It takes a lot of time and planning for costumes, but the work is all worth it! Creating costumes is a blast for me.

Here are some tips on how I have made my personal costumes:

First I find a character that I love, and I research different depictions of the character. For example, one year I was Hawk girl, so did my homework. I researched her as an original comic, her cartoon, and her animated version in the video game. Next, I mixed matched my findings to come up with the perfect costume for me. Then started planning out each piece. It definitely take ingenuity and an imagination to envision how an empty fabric with look. Often my friends saw the things and looked at me blankly but when they saw the finished product, it was worth it all!
